the 15 minute rule

Let's face it. Quarantine has made many of us lazy but try to remind yourself to take advantage of this unique time. I myself had a 2 month phase at the beginning of quarantine where I wasn't very productive. So I began thinking of a way to change this.

There are two types of people that will come out of quarantine. Those who are lazy and those you were productive and accomplished many tasks.

Now think about this. Which person do you want to be? I'm hoping you picked the latter.

Has there been anything you have been doing that has made you feel bad lately? It's time to fix that.

One thing that I'm not proud is that I've been sleeping past 2 a.m. some nights because I was watching either Netflix or YouTube. It's okay to have those nights every now and then but please not daily or multiple times a week. So let's start small.

Do the following steps before you go to bed every night:

Step 1: Grab a post it, paper, whiteboard or something that you can write with. Don't write it on your phone as your phone may be distracting also crossing tasks off with hand is psychologically proven to add an extra feeling of accomplishment.

Step 2: Make an attainable list of tasks to complete the next day.

Example: Don’t write saying you're going to study for 3 hours. That’ll seem daunting and you’ll end up not doing it. Instead say that you will study for an 1 perhaps do pomodoro (I'll talk about it more in another blog), and see if after that one hour u want to do more. Chances are you’ll probably want to work for an extra 30 min to an hour or more!

Step 3: Lastly, when u start each task the next day, and for some reason if you don't feel like to do a certain task, force yourself to do that task for 15 minutes. If after that 15 minutes you feel like to keep going, then KEEP GOING!

It's always just forcing yourself to begin the task in order for you to continue and finally check it off. The 15 minute rule can be applied to anything not just homework.

That's it. It's that simple. Comment down below if this was helpful and let me know after you try it once.

here’s mine from yesterday... it varies every day of course but most importantly make ur lists attainable!

thanks for reading <3
